The Hepatitis C Trust and its partners win an award

The Hepatitis C Trust and its partners have won an award for innovation at The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) Health Collaboration Summit 2016 for their South West Hepatitis C Partnership.
Working with Addaction, AbbVie and Incisive Health, the Trust has run a pilot initiative comprising three key interventions:
Peer-to-peer education: former service users were trained as peer educators, delivering talks to high-risk groups designed to reduce the stigma associated with HCV and present facts around risky behaviours, testing and treatment.
Buddying: volunteers were trained to provide one-to-one support to people going through testing and treatment.
Workforce development: a series of one-day training courses were delivered by experts seconded from The Hepatitis C Trust to improve Addaction key workers’ understanding of HCV.
The Health Collaboration Awards are for multi-stakeholder projects that address the needs of patients. The ethos behind the awards to share best practice and provide inspiration to people considering a multi-stakeholder approach to address the needs of patients. The overall winner the Health Collaboration Award 2017 – Together for better health for us, by us, addressing the healthcare needs of the Romany community across Eastern Europe.
