This report from the Global Commission on Drug Policy provides an overview of the global status of HIV and hepatitis, and proposes recommendations for action that respect, protect, and fulfil the human rights and health of people who use drugs. It highlights the negative impact of the current international drug control regime on health, human rights, and development and call for abandoning the prohibitionist approach.
The report follows the Global Commission’s previous thematic reports on “The War on Drugs and HIV/AIDS” (2012) and “The Negative Impact of the War on Drugs on Public Health: The Hidden Hepatitis C Epidemic” (2013).
