What is the Infected Blood Community Support Group?
This friendly and informal online support group is a space where everyone across the infected blood community can come together to connect, share their thoughts and feelings, ask questions and hear from others.
It is a safe and confidential space to raise any concerns or questions about the payment support schemes, the compensation process, general health concerns, or indeed anything relating to the contaminated blood scandal.
The sessions are hosted by Samantha May and Lisa Jeffrey from The Hepatitis C Trust Helpline and Information Support Service
All of the group taking part in the meeting were extremely open and friendly. I felt very much at ease participating because we are all in the same situation.
Who can join the Infected Blood Community Support Group?
Anyone who contracted hepatitis C, hepatitis B, or HIV via blood transfusion or blood products is welcome, as are partners, family members or others who have been affected.
Spaces are limited to 12 participants in each session and take place online via Zoom.
These spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and those who have not attended the group before will be prioritised
Upcoming sessions
Our next online support group session for those specifically in the “affected” community (partners, parents, children, siblings and carers of those infected with hepatitis B, C or HIV through blood and blood products) will be held on Monday 17 August from 5-6.30pm.
