The letter highlights concerns around how financial loss awards are calculated for estates within the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme.
Under the current Scheme, where an infected person has died prior to commencement of the Scheme and acceptance of an offer of compensation by IBCA (“Scheme
commencement”), whether as a child or an adult, the financial value of their claim is significantly reduced, in many cases by 50%.
