On Monday 24th March, the House of Commons debated the second regulations on Infected Blood, laid by the Government in February.
Whilst it was disappointing to see only two MPs beside the Minister make contributions, we are grateful to Mike Wood MP for covering key points of concern for the community – including on IBCA’s independence and inability to exercise discretion in exceptional cases, the limited number of conditions present in the scheme’s Severe Health Condition Award, the issues with excessive burden of proof for some awards, and the slow pace of the scheme’s development.
