The Wales Infected Blood Support Scheme (WIBSS) is looking for patient representatives to sit on its Appeals Panel.
WIBSS was established in October 2017, to provide support to people who have been infected with hepatitis C and/or HIV following treatment with NHS blood, blood products or tissue. Taking over from the previous UK schemes (Eileen Trust, Macfarlane Trust, MFET Ltd, Skipton Fund and Caxton Foundation), WIBSS aims to provide both a streamlined financial payment service and personalised support for Welsh beneficiaries.
The Appeals Panel will consider appeals made by applicants who have been turned down by the scheme. The Panel will meet approximately three times per year. Additional meetings can be convened should there be a requirement to do so. If there are no appeals to consider, the Panel will not be convened. The Scheme administrative staff will support the Panel.
Panel members do not have to be Welsh and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
If you are interested in being a member of the panel, please contact Mary Swiffen-Walker, WIBSS Service Manager, at Mary.Swiffen-Walker@wales.nhs.uk or on 02920 902267.
