The Scottish Parliament will tomorrow (9th May) debate hepatitis C elimination in a Members’ Business Debate being sponsored by Tom Arthur MSP.
The debate will highlight the findings and recommendations of ‘Eliminating Hepatitis C in Scotland: A Call to Action’, a report produced by The Hepatitis C Trust and the cross-party group of Scottish Hepatitis C Parliamentary Champions, released in January. The report followed an inquiry which heard from a range of expert stakeholders on Scotland’s progress towards the elimination of hepatitis C.
The debate will be covered live by BBC Scotland, with coverage available here from 1.15pm tomorrow.
On Thursday (10th May), the Scottish Parliament’s Public Petitions Committee will also consider a petition on increasing hepatitis C treatment targets in Scotland. The Hepatitis C Trust’s Chief Executive Charles Gore will speak in favour of the petition, which can be read here, along with a supporting statement by The Hepatitis C Trust here. The Committee session will be able to be viewed live here from 9am on Thursday.
