BBC Panorama will tonight air an episode on the contaminated blood scandal, which led to patients contracting hepatitis C and HIV. The programme, which will be shown at 9pm on BBC1, will examine recently-released documents and feature personal testimony from those affected by the scandal.
The programme follows a debate in Parliament on 25th April on the contaminated blood scandal, in which Andy Burnham (making his final appearance in Parliament before resigning as an MP) alleged a ‘criminal cover-up’ of the scandal, as reported by The Hepatitis C Trust here.
A short preview clip of the programme is available here, with the accompanying article featuring patients’ experiences, including Michelle Tolley, who contracted hepatitis C following a blood transfusion.
As well as being shown live on BBC1, the programme will be available on catch-up following broadcast here.
