Addaction gear up for WHD 2015

14 July 2015

Addaction is embracing World Hepatitis Day in a big way this year. Packs with promotional materials and information are being sent out to all participating services this week.
It is estimated that half of all injecting drug users are infected with this curable virus, but the vast majority do not know, and only 3% of those infected are accessing treatment. For World Hepatitis Day Addaction will be sharing information about Hepatitis C and the treatments available, and encouraging service users to get tested and find out whether they carry the disease.
The packs have been developed alongside the Hepatitis C Trust to help services celebrate World Hepatitis Day and help to raise awareness of this curable virus. We’re adding our voice to the worldwide call for the elimination of hepatitis C and encouraging more people to get tested, treated, and cured.
The packs contain resources to help staff refresh their knowledge of hepatitis C as well as materials to be shared with service users. To help their teams mark World Hepatitis Day in style, they will also find enclosed t-shirts, badges and balloons to be used on the day.
