The Hepatitis C Trust Post Treatment Symptoms Survey

We had heard so much on the Helpline, discussion forums and our own personal experience that people experience problems after treatment that we felt we should look at this in more depth.

• Are post-treatment problems widespread or are we only hearing from those that experience them?
• What are the common ones?
• How long do they last?

The Survey is now completed and currently being analysed. We hope the results of the analysis will be useful both for people who have had problems and may be reassured that others have them too and for people who are planning to do treatment.

In addition, depending on what the results show, we may want to use them to get funding for a more rigorous scientific study carried out in conjunction with selected hospitals on a prospective basis (meaning that participants are enrolled in the study in advance rather than questioned afterwards). This could provide us with much needed evidence to insist that hospitals put into place much better post-treatment care.
