Hepatitis C Trust awareness raising trek to Nepal

Last updated:09June2008

The Hepatitis C Trust organised a sponsored trek as part of its awareness raising campaign for Hepatitis C Awareness Day 2006. The trek was the brainchild of Jeff FNepal trekkers 2006rew, who has hepatitis C and cirrhosis himself. He is a very experienced and qualified trek leader taking groups every year to the Himalayas with a company called Community Action Treks. Jeff has been climbing and walking all his life: "I find going on a trek helps me to recharge my batteries at a level I can handle. Its a chance to get away from high speed life and everything you know and contemplate in the silence and vast humility of the Himalayas. Having hepatitis C and cirrhosis has not stopped me going - its part of maintaining a positive attitude to life. Walking in the Himalayas is a life-changing experience, the majesty, siView from Bhari Pokhara Ridge, Nepallence and awesome sacred beauty of the mountains transforms peoples lives".
