Hepatitis C Trust Advocacy

Call the helpline 020 7089 6221 - open 10.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays).

 Or email:

Dealing with hepatitis C from day to day can be exhausting and frustrating.

Alongside the support we give on the helpline we can also provide practical help and advocate on your behalf on any other issues connected with your hepatitis C.

This may be:

• If your GP won’t take your concerns seriously and refuses to test you.

• If you have had a positive test result but have to wait a long time before you can see a liver specialist.

• If you have started treatment and are not getting the sort of support from the clinic treating you that you think you should be getting.

• If you have any problem concerning re-treatment.

• If you think that you contracted HCV from blood products (before 1986) or whole blood (before 1992) and you need assistance with your claim for ex-gratia payments from any of the UK blood support schemes.

• If you need support or assistance to provide a witness statement to the Infected Blood Inquiry.

• If you are having difficulties with your employer.

• If you just don’t know what level of service you have a right to expect from your doctor and don’t know what your options are.

Any of these things can be difficult to deal with when you are feeling ill. That is why we have an Advocacy Service - to work on your behalf to get you the best possible care, based on best practice.

If you feel that you would like help or if you would like someone to speak on your behalf then give us a call.

We can’t promise to solve your problem, but we will use our expertise to do our best to help and also signpost you to other organisations that might be helpful.
