The government has launched its Hepatitis C Awareness Campaign, spending 2 miiion over 2 years. The Hepatitis C Trust publicly pledged to help the CMO, Sir Liam Donaldson, raise awareness, but questions why it is being launched just before Christmas and will it be enough. For example 50 million is being spent on a sexual health campaign. We will have to judge it by its results. We need to see a huge increase in the number of new diagnoses in 2005. At a press conference the CMO pledged to review the strategy for the campaign if this doesn't happen. To see BBC online coverage click here
