Policy and Parliamentary Work
The Trust provides the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Hepatology Group and continues to lobby the Government for a more robust response to hepatitis C. Click here for more information.
Scotland
Thanks to a grant from the Scottish government we have been able to establish an office in Edinburgh. This enables us to focus on our lobbying and media work in Scotland, as well as conduct World Hepatitis Day activities in local Scottish areas.
PCT Audit
We regularly audit the performance of the NHS in England in relation to hepatitis C and produce reports and recommendations based on our findings. These are often used to generate media interest and get hepatitis C into the news.
Patient Advocacy
Our advocacy staff work with GPs and other NHS staff to ensure that patients get the care and treatment to which they are entitled.
Patients' Association
We have established a Patients' Association with over 3000 members to build a community with a strong coherent voice and to foster active participation in awareness raising. We have also undertaken a program of visits to all the treating hospitals in the UK with the aim of forging good links with treatment staff and ensuring they are aware of all the valuable services we provide.
Consulting
The Trust provides the patient perspective to a range of organisations including NICE, the Department of Health (DH), the Scottish Government and the Welsh National Public Health Service.
HCV Action
The Trust currently run the secretariat for HCV Action – a network of healthcare workers including consultant hepatologists and gastroenterologists, clinical nurse specialists and GPs which acts as the voice of the hepatitis C professional community.
