Raising awareness

GP Campaign

With the help of over 130 volunteers we are running a poster campaign in GP surgeries throughout the UK to raise awareness of hepatitis C and increase the numbers of people being tested.

Media

The Trust continues to promote awareness through the media by placing hepatitis C stories in both local and national media with the objective of pushing hepatitis C higher up the national agenda. We have a number of ‘case studies’ who are willing to share their stories.

Get Tested!

Get Tested! aims to increase celebrity involvement with the hepatitis C cause as well as raise funds towards our work. The past few years have seen fundraising missions to Ibiza, culminating in a party at IMS (International Music Summit). We have also taken over the guest list at the annual We Love Space party in both 2009 and 2010 and held successful gigs at the Paradise and the Jazz Cafe.

South Asian Community

The Trust has employed a South Asian worker to communicate awareness messages to the Pakistani population in the UK, where research indicates that prevalence rates are much higher than in the general population. We have also attended melas and community information events to conduct testing amongst people in the community.

Fighting Stigma

Hepatitis C is stigmatised as both a drug users' disease and as a sexually transmitted infection and the Trust is committed to correcting these misconceptions which only discourage people from coming forward for testing.
