Get the Flu Vaccine this Winter
The risk of serious illness from flu and possible hospitalisation or death is higher amongst those with underlying health conditions such as chronic liver disease.
Last winter, only 42.9% of people with chronic liver disease got vaccinated and yet people with chronic liver disease are approximately 48 times more likely to die if they develop flu than someone who has no other underlying health condition.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people may see their GP and tens of thousands may be hospitalised because of flu each winter and according to Public Health England, around 760 people were admitted to intensive care with complications of flu last year.
Public Health England have therefore asked us to urge people with hepatitis C to protect themselves by getting the seasonal flu vaccine.
This can easily be arranged by making an appointment with your GP.
