MPs report back on the work of the All-Party Parliamentary Hepatology Group

The All-Party Parliamentary Hepatology Group (APPHG) has published a report into their work and achievements in the last Parliament.

Over the course of the 2005 to 2010 Parliament over 100 parliamentarians have been involved in the APPHG’s activity, transforming the profile of hepatitis C and liver disease in Parliament. They have helped hold NHS organisations to account, improved public awareness and raised the issue up the agenda of all political parties. In October 2009 the Department of Health acted upon the Group’s call to commit to develop a new national liver strategy.

The Hepatitis C Trust is working with parliamentarians so that the heightened political profile for liver disease is translated into significantly improved outcomes for patients over the course of the next Parliament.

The Hepatitis C Trust provides secretariat support to the APPHG.
