Radio 4 broadcast play based on hepatitis C treatment blogs

Radio 4
Afternoon Play-Monday 5th June 2.15 - 3.00
Llama Lashes and Grumpy Old Gits
Devised by Anne Edyvean and Jonathan Myerson.

What do a gay bell-ringer, a beer-loving engineer, a Canadian health-care worker and a Muslim family man have in common?

Verbatim extracts from real blogs tell the story of how isolated individuals found each other on-line and laughed, and raged, and cried together through the highs and lows of treatment for the potentially life-threatening virus, Hepatitis C.

Extract from Ron Metcalfe's blog

"BBC Radio 4 are doing a play about HepC and how the HepC blogging community grew from me starting this blog in November 2004 with others starting theirs and joining in, forming an online community.

I've seen the script and it made me laugh and touched me too the interchanges between me and others through our blogs does making a surprisingly interesting story. It tells about the experience of treatment and the supportive relationships which grew in the early days of blogging. Im delighted a BBC producer recognised the potential in the blogs and pulled together an interesting take on it all"
