Travel Insurance tends to be cost-driven rather than particularly comprehensive and is often sold as a package with a trip. This type of travel insurance will often not cover pre-existing illnesses and will exclude them from the policy. However, you should have no problem getting cover with the exclusion at the same price as anyone else. You can find insurance companies that provide annual travel insurance for people with hepatitis C but there will be an excess (often hefty) for hepatitis C-related illness.
You would be ill advised to undergo foreign travel without adequate travel insurance. The EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) has replaced the old E111. The EHIC entitles you to reduced-cost, sometimes free, medical treatment that becomes necessary while youre in a European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland. The EEA consists of the European Union (EU) countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Switzerland applies the EHIC arrangements through an agreement with the EU.
You can apply for a (EHIC) online, by phone or by post.
