Hepatitis C Trust - The GET TESTED bus tour

To highlight World Hepatitis Day and encourage people to GET TESTED for viral hepatitis, The Hepatitis C Trust is organising a branded double-decker testing bus to tour key sites in London on 18^th May, the day before World Hepatitis Day. Nurses from St Marys hospital will be spreading the GET TESTED message and offering free, quick, dry blood spot tests to Londoners in Leicester Square and underneath the Gherkin.

We are hoping for lots of PR on the day – in particular London Mayor, Boris Johnson, will be “tweeting” on Twitter about the bus and we are inviting a variety of celebrities and MPs to help secure newspaper photo coverage.

The bus will be offering tests in Queens Street,Cardiff on World Hepatitis Day 19th May.

Hepatitis C Trust - Pharmacy Testing Pilot

Starting on World Hepatitis Day, 16 pharmacies across the country will be offering anonymous free hepatitis B and C tests to their customers. We are working in close partnership with 5 PCTs on this project: Tameside & Glossop, Sandwell, the Isle of White, Nottingham and City & Hackney.

We are hoping that this groundbreaking pilot project will help to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, and will help to diagnose more people, ultimately saving many lives.

The tests will be offered from 19th May 2009 for 3 months, and then the results will be evaluated and published. If the project is successful in increasing diagnosis rates, we hope it will be a model that can be rolled out in targeted pharmacies across the country.
