An evening with Boy George at the Jazz Cafe

The Hepatitis C Trust's and 80s icon Boy George’s sold out GET TESTED! auction and evening of music at the HMV-owned Jazz Café in London’s Camden Town on Thursday 31st March 2011 has been heralded as a huge success raising over £17,000 on the night for the charity.

Gemma Peppe from the Hepatitis C Trust commented, ‘An Evening with Boy George for GET TESTED! was an amazing success. It was such a special moment getting Adam Ant and Boy George on stage together. The whole place was on fire. We raised over £17K on the night and people can still bid on the silent auction'. The silent auction can be viewed here

Boy George has been photographing celebrities dressed up as their favourite eighties icons for The Hepatitis C Trust's GET TESTED! Campaign with the main aim of drawing attention to the shocking fact that, despite having been identified as long ago as the 1980s, 75% of people who have the hepatitis C virus remain unaware that they have the condition.

The attending public on the night were able to bid for their favourite photo signed by not only Boy George but by all the celebrities who have been featured, including Gavin and Stacey’s Mathew Horne, actors Sadie Frost and Jimi Mistry, and musicians Eliza Doolittle and Paloma Faith.

Performing along with George on the night included 80’s legend Adam Ant, HMV Next Big Thing festival participants Josh Weller and Paloma Faith, up and coming artist Joe Worriker, Lou Hayter and Tahita Bulmer from The New Young Pony club, with Jodie Harsh, Mat Horne and Lisa Moorish acting as auctioneers.
